Karen O'Leary Returns!

Image by Candiix

Tonight I'd like to return to poetry with haiku by Karen O'Leary, the  editor-in-chief of the late, lamented Whispers, a poetry site that became a community for many of us.

Celebrating Song in Haiku...
By Karen O'Leary

ballroom dance...
the belle tucks stars
into dreams
~~~~~~~~~~~~
tinkling of chimes
and a robin's song...
a garden  wedding
~~~~~~~~~~~~
midsummer...
her arms float in music
exploring dreams
~~~~~~~~~~~~
sunset songs
relieve taut muscles
the valleys cradle
~~~~~~~~~~~~
silk ribbon--
the smooth stains
of her song
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next is Ben Webster's version of "The Nearness of You": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eOZhVPRwbo
I hope that you have enjoyed Karen's haiku and this romantic music!
  4. I love everything about this post, especially the writer.
    Oh, the robin, as a sentinel, guarding over nuptials... Brilliant.
    (Robins once saved my life, you know. That makes me sentimental.)
    Seriously, I have been lonesome since Karen's last post.
    All better now.
    1. Dear Michael,
      I haven't heard the robin story as far as I can remember. I'll have to email to get the scoop from the man--this reporter or non-reporter would be a more apt description. Ha! Ha! Always nice to have a little fun with writing along the way.
      Blessings,
      Karen
  6. Dearest Karen, what lovely hauku. My first thought was, each goes so perfectly well with this site, "The song is... each having a musical feel to it. Perhaps that is the way it is supposed to be. I loved them all but especially the wedding one, having recently witnessed the lovely wedding of my youngest daughter and son-in law in the LDS Temple here. I will be blessed to continue to read your wonderful poems, now here on this lovely site.
    Love, Charlene
